The mysterious death of Sadhick Batcha, a close aide of the ex-Union Minister A Raja, currently in Tihar Jail for the 2G Spectrum scam, is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Batcha (38) was found hanging at his residence in Chennai on March 16. He was rushed to the Apollo Hospitals where he was declared dead and a post mortem was conducted on the same day at the Royapettah Government Hospital.
The case was transferred to the CBI and a five-member team visited Batcha’s residence to collect evidence on his death. The team including the CFSL Director and two CBI Joint Directors from New Delhi inspected the premises and summoned Batcha’s family members for enquiry. Batcha’s family members do not reside there anymore and the scene of crime is left undisturbed, the CBI official said.
Batcha’s wife Rehabanu had earlier told the police that the door to her husband’s room had to be forced open as he did not answer her calls for lunch on the fateful day. However, the officials investigating the crime scene say that there was no indication of the door being forced open.
